Kualoa

My (big) lil' brother, Mike works at Kualoa Ranch and drives an old 6-wheel-drive Swiss Pinzgauer jeep, taking people (mostly funny Japanese tourists who get the ride of their lives) on back-country jungle expeditions all day long. The terrain is pretty rough going up the valley. He took it easy on us, since we had a baby on board, but I hear on one of his earlier drives someone flew right off their seat and onto the floor. Haha.

We got a beautiful view of Mokoli'i Island (Cinaman's Hat) and an ancient Hawaiian fishpond. The view south of the Ko'olau mountains was something incredible.

He drove us up the Hakipuu Valley and then we hiked up the ridge at the top for a view looking down both (Kaaawa and Hakipuu) valleys. It was breathtaking.

The valley is used for a lot of LOST filming, so it was fun to see some familiar sights, as well as Jurassic Park, Mighty Joe Young, Pearl Harbor, 50 first Dates, Windtalkers, and Godzilla.

We had a GREAT time with Marci and Dan here... come back soon and bring your kids!!! We miss you. Thank you for coming!
