Fun on the ice

Remember the part about me growing up in a family of boys? We would convert the garden into an ice rink and spend the winter playing hockey in the backyard.

To give his grandkids something fun, grandpa spent hours and hours (around the clock) converting his field into an ice rink for Christmas. We enjoyed it thoroughly. The next day the sun came out and turned it into a big puddle. boo.

The funniest part was watching out the window as the hose whipped from grandpa and he had to jump over it as it flew this way and that in an effort to not get soaked. Well done, grandpa. Thanks for the gift.

I remember the first time I learned to skate. I was a little older than Naomi. My dad was so patient. I fell AT LEAST a hundred times. The bruises on my hips were so hideously painful I couldn't attend the sleep-over birthday party for my best friend that night and we both cried. However, it HAS been one of my favorite things all these years and I was happy the girls got a little time on the ice before the sun melted it all away.
