Thinking out loud


These photos triggered a hundred memories today. Of being their age. Together with cousins. Of cutting flowers - lilacs, peonies, bridalveil, purple iris... anything in bloom - and carefully arranging them in mason jars to take to the cemetery on Memorial day. First to my little brother. And then the long drive to be with Grandma as we took flowers for Grandpa. Grandma is now buried beside him. I miss her. Even without any of the familiar sights and smells of my childhood here to trigger the memories, they have come flooding back in abundance over the last few days. Happy memories of people I long for...
