Naomi is 2 months old!

Naomi, you are two months and one week old today. Sunrise is by far your favorite time of the day. You wake up between 6:00-7:00 a.m. when the construction crew starts working and you want to PLAY. Your big early morning smiles motivate mommy and daddy to get their butts out of bed.

We usually find you with one hand in your mouth (well, trying anyway) and the other hand swirling through your hair. The doctor is always worried that you'll grab and pull, but you've already tried that and once was enough to learn that it's a really bad idea. It is really cute to watch you learning to sooth yourself.

Mommy is your champion comforter while daddy gets the biggest smiles out of you.

You got your first three inoculations (shots in the thighs) last friday and you hated that! (I didn't like it either! I almost cried watching you scream in anger and pain) You havn't been yourself and have been extra grumpy and sick for the last several days. Luckily (for all of us), you are finally starting to eat again and seem to be returning to your pleasant self (after all, Naomi does mean "pleasant one").

You love bath-time and you are turning into a water-baby like daddy and birth-mama Liza. You like to show us how you can swim by swishing your legs and arms and you like the water temperature to be very, very warm (like mommy).

This week you got your first haircut. Mommy held you while daddy cut. We didn't think to take before and after pictures until it was too late... we cut about 1 inch off the back... good bye mullet! Your hair is amazing! It is cute and curly when wet and then when it dries it goes "POOF" and is completely out of control and fun!

You have "cradle cap" (the scaly looking dry skin on your forehead and eyebrows) so we're putting oil on it and then gently rubbing the scales off after it soaks in.

You suddenly discovered the classic winnie the pooh mobile hanging above your bed last week (perhaps your eyes finally developed so that you could see it?) and love to "dance" when it is on. You love to lay on your back and kick and swing your arms but dislike being placed on your tummy (you snarl and growl and cry - daddy says you are a baby jaguar. grArr). (Anyone have suggestions for getting baby to like tummy-time???)

We love to read books with you and go for walks with you in the stroller (though you definitely prefer to be in the mommy's sling rather than in the stroller. It is your "safe" place and immediately comforts you). You love the breeze on your face and like mommy to run her hands through your hair. You prefer daddy to get you dressed because he turns it into a game and you love playing with him.

You can be a challenging baby, but also a pure delight. I love being a mom... your mom. I'm so in love. It feels so... right.
