Omi-isms
Toddlers are funny. I laugh a lot.
One morning this week while I was exercising, naomi pulled on her new shoes, and with a bag over each shoulder came and asked me, "going?" (which means, ask me where I'm going).
mom: "Omi, where are you going?"
naomi: "to PCC."
mom: "Why are you going to the PCC (Polynesian Cultural Center)?"
naomi: "to work."
(obviously, mom, where else would I work? Everyone works at the pcc! Mike, Kimi ...who she thinks has just been working long hours there for the last month instead of coming home, and daddy... who works at the university, but she is convinced he works at the pcc!)
"My so stuck!" (trying to get out of the high chair)
"Maybe we sh go outside!" (trying to talk mark into taking her outside)
The first thing she said the other day when I went to pick her up from Darcy's house was, "Mommy is SO cute!"
I haven't figured out where she got this one, but several of our friends are pregnant, so maybe that's it... but she often points to her tummy and tells me "baby in my tummy!" (don't get any ideas... it's not me).
In the bathtub last night she was making the dolphin swim around the tub. She explained to me that "dolphins fimmin and jumpin in ocean... (pause) dolphin fimmin in the tub!"
I hurt my back this week and it hurts really bad to sit... so I was sighing this evening after dinner (because I was tired and try to do everything standing up rather than sitting). Naomi was very concerned and asked, "whasamatter mommy?"
We went to get her next set of immunization shots on friday and she was so brave, but cried after the second shot. I was comforting her afterwards and she stopped crying, looked up at me and said, "my ok now. Naomi's ok." and that was the end of the tears.
Omi uses "my" in place of "I" so today I was trying to get her to say, "I see the cow" instead of "My see the cow".
mom: "Omi, say, I see the cow"
omi: "My see the cow"
mom: "say, I did it"
omi: "my did it!"
mom: "say I, not my. say, I see the cow"
omi: "mommy sees the cow!"
haha.
When Omi and I went to church this morning I wasn't planning to stay for her nursery/primary class because she's got a pretty snotty nose (which means that all of my clothes are covered in slime as well)... but I was asking her what we do when we go to church (expecting her to tell me "shhh. quiet time"), but instead she got very excited and shouted, "Naomi's nursery class! yay!" ... so we stayed. As we walked to the nursery class she said, "Nice to see you peoples."
I've been staying with Naomi in her nursery class because she freaks out anytime I leave, and they need the help with 16 kids and two teachers. However, today I slipped out to go to the bathroom. When I returned, she saw me walk in and realized that I had been gone... and was ok with that. I pulled her aside and asked her if she wanted to stay in Nomi's nursery class and mommy would go to mommy's class and come back when class was over. "O.K." she said. Ha! wow. I looked up less than 10 seconds later to see the door open and a member of the bishopric beckon to me. I walked out of the room to talk with him and he asked if I'd be willing to be one of the nursery class teachers. Ironic.
I laughed later driving home from church when Naomi said, "bye bye. See you later peoples... in nursery."
so, see you later peoples. :)
