Truly Blessed
I sat in bed Sunday night thinking about the events that took place one year ago. I can't believe it's already been a year... and yet it feels like Naomi's been a part of our family forever. I remember texting back and forth with Liza... "I'm 3 minutes apart. don't forget the camera! Love you both!" Then, traveling very fast to the hospital. Holding tightly to the hand of a beautiful and courageous young woman who will forever have my respect and love as she gave birth... and later gently holding the tiny hand of my daughter.
Mark fell in love with Naomi at first sight. We accompanied her to the nursery a while after her birth to be with her while they weighed, measured and bathed her for the first time. She was screaming after receiving her first set of shots. Mark gently laid his hand on her chest and with both of her tiny hands, she reached up and grasped hold of his fingers and immediately calmed. Daddy's heart melted.
Naomi grows more beautiful every day and is so happy and delightful. I see Juliza in some of her facial expressions and I also see a little of me in some of the faces she makes. She is a blessed little girl to have birth-mama Liza who gave her life and love and the genes that make up so much of her character... and mommy and daddy to love and guide her through life and help her to develop those characteristics and talents.
We love you Liza and are so grateful for everything you went through to bring Naomi into the world and for placing her in our arms. We are truly blessed.
